Biography

Jennifer Powell is an accomplished executive with 25 years experience in the areas of Organization Development, Human Resource Management and Employee Involvement. She is an experienced practitioner dedicated to helping organizations achieve their goals through the growth and development of leaders, individual contributors and work teams across whole organizations. From 1999-2006, Jennifer worked for Aetna, Inc. as the Chief of Staff for the Regional Businesses Customer Operations Head. Her responsibilities included overseeing leadership and organization development, managing a formal mentoring program and managing internal communications process.  Prior to taking the Chief of Staff position, Jennifer served as an HR Manager for Aetna for 3 years participating in the HR transformation from a transaction to a consultative model.

For 6 years Jennifer served as the Organization Development Manager for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, GA, a nationally recognized leader in cable programming. Her primary responsibility included guiding the organizational transformation from a traditional structure to a Team-Based Management approach. Prior to joining The Weather Channel, Jennifer was the Human Resources Manager for WJZ-TV in Baltimore, MD, and was instrumental in introducing Total Quality Management to what was then Westinghouse Broadcasting.

Jennifer is an accomplished leadership coach with formal training and 10+ years experience working with teams and/or leaders at all levels from CEO’s to front line supervisors. In 2003 she expanded her scope to include personal life transition coaching after completing the Coaching Certificate Program with the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara, a comprehensive eight-month program. In 2005 Jennifer launched Reflections, an independent coaching business focusing on both leadership coaching and personal life transitions.

Jennifer also served for 20 years on the Board of Directors of The Association for Quality and Participation (AQP), a not-for-profit professional association dedicated to promoting Employee Involvement in the workplace.  During that time she held several officer positions, including two terms as President of the Association.

She is living her dream of working with dolphins by serving as a Program Host at The Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Florida. Her duties include narrating sessions for the public and teaching workshops. Before joining the staff full-time, Jennifer worked as a volunteer for 5 months.

Jennifer has worked as a volunteer for a number of organizations over the past 20 years including tutoring reading, volunteering in the nursery at both Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore and Grady Hospital in Atlanta and serving as a volunteer docent at the Philadelphia Zoo and Garden. She is also an accomplished ballroom dancer and an avid reader.
